The Bright Ethics Standard outlines the policies and practices that an organisation has to meet in order to be awarded certification.

1. Desk Top Review
At this stage organisations are invited to submit documentary evidence, including examples of policies and best practices. This is then reviewed by your dedicated assessor who uses it to determine the areas explored in the on-site visit.
2. On-site visit
Depending on the size of the organisation, this can take from a half day up to several days across various sites.
During the visit, your assessor will conduct face-to-face interviews with employees across the business. This usually includes key stakeholders, such as senior management, HR managers, procurement managers and other appropriate post holders.
3. Report and Feedback
After the on-site visit, your assessor will compile a report detailing compliance with the Standard. The assessment decision will be included within this document, however your assessor will also highlight areas of excellence and improvement.
We believe that there is no limit to the ambitions of an ethical business, which is why we want to help guide and support you in maximising the impact the assessment has on your organisation.
The additional suggestions made in the report can also form part of the 18 month review if deemed appropriate.
In the event that an organisation not pass the Standard, they are given detailed reasons for this decision and guidance on how specific criteria can be met. The organisation then has six months to resubmit evidence of compliance.
This is where we celebrate and hopefully you do too! Your certification will be valid for three years from the date of award.
5. 18 Month Review
After 18 months we will arrange a follow-up session with your assessor.
This is a chance for you to demonstrate any additional ethical commitments you have made and also allows us to continue to support your organisational goals.
